Above is our wonderful A4 that we traded in this past weekend. She served us well, boring daily commutes, trips to and from the United Center in the middle of a Polar Vortex, late night drives home from random music venues across Chicago. All without hassle or issue. This was our second A4 and we highly recommend them if anyone is in the market.
We missed having an suv and felt it time to get one, so a few weeks ago we went to Audi Exchange (I highly recommend AE or any of their affiliates) and test drove 3 cars. The A3, Q3, and Q5 (full disclosure, we only drove the A3 because my father in law said it's such a great car and has all the most modern tech - it's the same as every other Audi we saw, just a different layout). We knew going in that we most liked the Q5 but we gave the A3 & Q3 their fair shake. They both gave us the same impression of being cramped and slow. As much as we'd love the Q7, it's too big for downtown Chicago living (at least to our preferences). So our final test drive was the Q5, we were sold. Some paperwork, money exchanging hands, and a 10 day wait later, we got the call, "Your Q5 came in this morning, what time would work best for you to pick it up?" So this past Saturday, we bid farewell to the A4 and welcomed the Q5. It's early, but I think so far, it was a great decision. Here she is in all her Lava Gray Pearl beauty:
EDIT: The interior is black and we went with the panoramic moon roof so the dogs could have yet another line of sight to the outside world, even though they just sleep in the car.

I think we'll always have one. If/when we need a second car, that's when I'll get a little more ambitious ;)

Good choice! The Q5 has been a recent addition to my family as well and its really good. Its also the first car we've had with the panoramic roof and its pretty neat :)

My family also just traded in an old audi for a Q5. My stepmoms minivan had just been traded in on my dads new stingray, and she knew she wanted a Q5 and then our 2006 A3 3.2l was starting to develop problems at almost 110k miles so they traded it in for a brand new white with brown interior Q5. It's awesome but I still wish we had kept the A3. My dad bought it new and it was my first car that I got to drive all of last year until now since I'm at college, and it's sad to see a car you've grown up with go away. Hope you like your new ride!

Loving it so far. It kinda sucks when that first driver is no longer with you. Sounds like they chose well though.

We're really enjoying the panoramic roof, and the overall feel of the Q5. It's good to stay in an Audi but now have an suv.

I wanted my dad to keep it, but early this summer we began to have a check engine light that required several trips to our local Audi dealer, and then after me and my dad bought a new ECU which they claimed would fix the problem the CEL came on again about a week later, plus I was pretty sure the DSG was going to fail soon as sometimes it seemed like the clutch would slip or something. If you revved it hard while already moving it would sometimes just rev freely for a second or two before actually grabbing the gear which had never happened before. We got a good life out of it though.
